Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 102 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. As of Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the national average examination was recorded at 94.22 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Sleman (968 specimens), Garut (938 specimens), Medan City (932 specimens), Cirebon City (853 specimens), and Karawang (825 specimens).
Sleman ranks first, with 968 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 3.55 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.
Next is Garut. In an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, 938 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region was recorded at 2.41 percent, also higher than the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, Medan City recorded 932 specimens examined per week, Cirebon City recorded 853 specimens, and Karawang recorded 825 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 72 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 138 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Medan City, Kutai Kartanegara, and Kupang City, with 932, 766, and 752 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
