COVID-19 cases in Indonesia have continued to increase since the beginning of June 2022. However, the average bed occupancy rate (BOR) in national referral COVID-19 hospitals remains manageable.
A report from the Ministry of Health shows that the national average COVID-19 hospital BOR was 2.16% for the week of June 26, 2022. This figure is an increase compared to the previous week, which reached 1.68%.
However, this figure is still far below the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) of 60%.
West Sulawesi and DKI Jakarta recorded the highest national COVID-19 hospital BOR, both provinces having a 7% BOR.
Next is Banten with a COVID-19 hospital BOR percentage of 4%. Then, Bali, North Maluku, and West Java each have a COVID-19 hospital BOR of 3%.
Papua, Yogyakarta Special Region, West Nusa Tenggara, and West Sumatra each have a COVID-19 hospital BOR of 2%.
Meanwhile, Gorontalo, Aceh, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Jambi, and North Sumatra recorded the lowest national COVID-19 hospital BOR at 0%.
Although the national COVID-19 hospital BOR remains relatively controlled, the public is urged to remain vigilant against the spread of the coronavirus. Especially since the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants are said to be more contagious than Delta and the common Omicron variant.
Adherence to health protocols must always be practiced, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the implementation of the third or booster vaccination dose is also necessary to reduce the level of illness and death due to COVID-19.
