Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 159 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Thursday, June 9, 2022, shows a national average of 0.99 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are South Jakarta (7.15 people), Central Jakarta (6.85 people), Balikpapan (6.66 people), Wakatobi (5.88 people), and Badung (5.28 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 7.15 tests per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 2.04 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta, with a population of 913,720. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 6.85 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 1.79 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Balikpapan recorded 6.66 tests per 1,000 people per week, Wakatobi 5.88, and Badung 5.28.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 265 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 112 regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (6.66 people), Wakatobi (5.88 people), and Badung (5.28 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
