Active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia continue to decline. According to Worldometers, a total of 18,388 active cases of people infected with the coronavirus were recorded in the country on Monday, October 18, 2021.
This number places Indonesia's active Covid-19 cases at 21st in Asia, just below Afghanistan, which has 21,487 active cases of people infected with the coronavirus. Meanwhile, Turkey still has the highest number of active Covid-19 cases in Asia, reaching 496,888. Iran is in second place with 336,632 cases.
Following Iran are India with 197,012 active cases, Thailand with 107,790, and Malaysia with 92,246. The Philippines reported 81,641 active cases, while Vietnam reported 51,015 cases of people infected with the coronavirus.
The number of active Covid-19 cases needs to be continuously suppressed. This can be done, among other things, by diligently implementing the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap.
In addition, the public is urged to participate in Covid-19 vaccination. Vaccination is effective in reducing the risk of death from the virus.
