Based on the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) by the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of stunting in toddlers in Central Java reached 20.8% in 2022. This province ranked 20th highest nationally.
Central Java only managed to reduce the stunting rate by 0.1 percentage points from the previous year. The 2021 SSGI recorded a stunting prevalence of 20.9% in Central Java.
Eighteen regencies/cities had a stunting prevalence above the provincial average. The remaining 17 regencies/cities were below the average stunting prevalence in Central Java.
Brebes Regency had the highest prevalence of stunting in Central Java in the 2022 SSGI, reaching 29.1%. This figure increased by 2.8 percentage points from the previous year's SSGI result of 26.3%.
Temanggung Regency ranked second with the highest prevalence of stunting in Central Java at 28.9%, followed by Magelang Regency in third place at 28.2%.
Semarang City had the lowest prevalence of stunting in Central Java, at only 10.4%. It was followed by Magelang City and Salatiga City with stunting prevalences of 13.9% and 14.2%, respectively.
