Impact of Emergency PPKM: Active Covid-19 Cases in Jakarta Begin to Decline

Active COVID-19 cases in Jakarta reached 86,198 on Thursday, July 22, 2021. This number continues a downward trend observed over the past week, coinciding with the implementation of the Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

The number of patients hospitalized for coronavirus infection in the capital city reached its peak at 113,118 on July 16, 2021. However, active COVID-19 cases in Jakarta decreased to 111,642 on July 17, 2021.

The following day, active COVID-19 cases in Jakarta were recorded at 108,728. The number further decreased to 100,796 on July 19, 2021.

Active COVID-19 cases in Jakarta fell below 100,000 on July 20, 2021. However, the number is still significantly higher than the 6-7 thousand cases seen before the second wave of the virus.

These active cases represent 11.2% of the total positive COVID-19 cases in Jakarta, which amounts to 770,487. 87.4% of total COVID-19 cases in Jakarta have recovered, while 1.4% have resulted in death.

To prevent the spread of coronavirus, the public must diligently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. Furthermore, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
