Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 158 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data from the week of June 12, 2022, shows a national average of 0.99 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five areas with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week are: Wakatobi (7.9 people), South Jakarta (7.38 people), Central Jakarta (6.95 people), Balikpapan (6.33 people), and Badung (5.62 people).
Wakatobi ranks first. With a population of 103,230, the number of people tested is 7.9 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.25 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 7.38 people per 1,000 were tested per week. The positive rate in this area is 2.56 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following this, Central Jakarta recorded 6.95 tests per 1,000 people per week, Balikpapan 6.33 tests per 1,000 people per week, and Badung, with a population of 727,950, recorded 5.62 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 174 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than the previous week. Meanwhile, 172 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Wakatobi, Balikpapan, and Badung, with 7.9, 6.33, and 5.62 tests per 1,000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
