Aceh had the fifth-highest prevalence of stunting among toddlers in Indonesia in 2022. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Health's Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI), the prevalence of stunting in the province was 31.2% last year.
Aceh only managed to reduce the number of stunted toddlers by 2 percentage points from the previous year. In the 2021 SSGI, the prevalence of stunting in the province reached 33.2%.
The prevalence of stunting in Aceh is considered poor, exceeding the World Health Organization (WHO) threshold of 20%.
Based on its regions, 12 regencies/cities in Aceh had a prevalence of stunting above the provincial average, while 11 others were below the average.
Subulussalam City had the highest prevalence of stunting in Aceh in 2022, reaching 47.9%. This figure jumped 6.1 percentage points from 41.8% in 2021.
North Aceh Regency ranked second in Aceh with a stunting prevalence of 38.3%. It was followed by Pidie Jaya Regency with a stunting prevalence of 37.8%.
The lowest prevalence of stunting was in Aceh Jaya Regency, at 19.9%. Banda Aceh City ranked 19th in the province with a stunting rate of 25.1%.
