Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 161 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Monday, May 23, 2022, shows a national average of 1.71 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting from the highest number of people tested per 1,000 people per week, are Lamongan (11.28 people), South Jakarta (9.94 people), Balikpapan (9.72 people), Central Jakarta (9.6 people), and Supiori (9.54 people).
Lamongan ranks first, with 11.28 people tested per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.01 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is South Jakarta. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 9.94 people per 1,000 people per week were tested. The positive rate in this region is 0.57 percent, down from the previous week's ratio.
Then, Balikpapan, with a population of 646,020, recorded 9.72 Covid-19 tests per 1,000 people per week. Central Jakarta recorded 9.6 tests per 1,000 people per week, and Supiori recorded 9.54 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 81 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 296 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (9.72 people), Supiori (9.54 people), and Badung (9.34 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
