According to a report by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia had 2,930 commercial tourist attraction objects (ODTW) in 2022.
Of these, the majority, or 2,115 Indonesian commercial tourist attraction companies, were managed by the private sector. This represents 72.18% of the total ODTW in the previous year.
Next, there were 645 companies, or 22.01% of commercial ODTWs, managed by the central government.
Then, 118 companies (4.03%) of the country's commercial tourist attractions were operated by Authorities, and 52 similar companies (1.77%) were managed by the central government.
In addition, BPS noted that only 28.84% of Indonesian commercial tourist attraction companies had tourism business certifications in 2022. The remaining 71.16% did not have certifications.
"Certification can help increase competitiveness in the tourism industry in the global market," wrote BPS in its report, *Tourism Attraction Object Statistics 2022*.
Furthermore, according to BPS, such certification can increase tourist confidence by ensuring that tourism businesses meet service and safety standards.
