According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), in August 2023, the number of open unemployment in Indonesia reached 7.86 million people, equivalent to 5.32% of the total national workforce.
When broken down by province, the lowest unemployment rate was in West Sulawesi, at 2.27%.
Other provinces with relatively low unemployment rates nationally are Papua (2.67%), Bali (2.69%), West Nusa Tenggara (2.8%), and Central Sulawesi (2.95%).
Next are Gorontalo (3.06%), East Nusa Tenggara (3.14%), Southeast Sulawesi (3.15%), Bengkulu (3.42%), and Yogyakarta Special Region (3.69%).
The figures recorded here represent the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT), which is the ratio of the number of unemployed to the number of workers in each province.
These figures include unemployed individuals meeting the following criteria:
* People without jobs who are actively seeking employment;
* People without jobs who are preparing to start a business;
* People without jobs who are not seeking employment because they feel it is impossible to find a job; and
* People who already have a job but have not yet started working.
