European Covid-19 statistics this week show that most countries have recorded a decrease in the number of deaths, a contrast to the previous situation where the death toll continued to rise. This week, 16 countries still recorded an increase in deaths, while 17 others recorded fewer deaths than the previous week.
In terms of percentage, the top five countries with the highest increase in deaths are Greece, Slovenia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Norway. The total number of deaths in these five countries as of Saturday, September 17, 2022, was 1,076, with a weekly growth exceeding 111.11 percent.
Greece recorded the highest increase in Covid-19 deaths in Europe, with weekly growth reaching 1,558.33 percent. Worldometer recorded 995 deaths in the country, a significant increase compared to the previous week's reported 60 deaths.
Next is Slovenia, which recorded 333.33 percent more deaths compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 30% increase in deaths compared to the previous day. Lithuania recorded nine deaths (up 200%), Ukraine saw a 122.22% increase in deaths, and Norway recorded 19 deaths (up 111.11%).
Looking at the number of reported deaths, the highest number of deaths in the last seven days in Europe occurred in Greece with 995 deaths. Death reports in this country increased by 1,558.33% compared to the previous week. Following Greece, Russia reported the highest number of deaths with 658 (up 3.95%), Germany recorded 628 deaths (up 16.95%), the UK recorded 401 deaths (down 28.39%), and Italy recorded 366 deaths (down 9.18%).
The total number of deaths in Europe over the past seven days was 4,232. This accounts for 38.53 percent of global deaths caused by the Covid-19 virus, totaling 10,983. The number of deaths in Europe increased compared to the previous seven-day accumulation of 3,585 deaths.
