The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the hotel occupancy rate (HOR) for star-rated hotels in Jakarta, DKI Jakarta in October 2021 reached 50.6%. This figure is up 8 percentage points from the previous month's 42.6%.
The increase in the HOR of star-rated hotels in the capital city in October 2021 coincides with the decline in Covid-19 cases and the improvement in the tourism sector. The HOR of star-rated hotels in Jakarta even plummeted in July and August due to the surge in corona cases and the implementation of the emergency community activity restrictions (PPKM) by the government, but it increased again in September and October.
Compared to the same period the previous year, the HOR of star-rated hotels in Jakarta increased by 6.3 percentage points. The HOR for Jakarta's star-rated hotels was recorded at 44.3% in October 2020.
According to their classification, all HORs of star-rated hotels in Jakarta experienced a monthly increase in October 2021. The highest increase was experienced by five-star hotels, at 15.9 percentage points, from 43.9% to 59.8%.
One-star hotels experienced a monthly increase of 7.3 percentage points, from 26.7% to 34%. Four-star hotels saw a 6.7 percentage point increase, from 41.3% to 48%.
Then, three-star hotels increased by 5.7 percentage points, from 42.1% to 47.8%. Meanwhile, two-star hotels increased by 2.5 percentage points, from 47.5% to 50%.
Year-on-year, four-star hotels in Jakarta experienced the highest increase, at 8.6 percentage points, from 39.4% to 48%. Meanwhile, five-star hotels increased by 6.4 percentage points, from 53.4% to 59.8%. Two-star hotels increased by 6 percentage points, from 44% to 50%.
Then, the HOR of three-star hotels increased by 5.4 percentage points, from 42.4% to 47.8%. Meanwhile, one-star hotels experienced a decrease of 6.6 percentage points, from 40.6% to 34%.
