YLKI: Banks Receive the Most Consumer Complaints

Banking was the most frequently reported commodity to the Indonesian Consumer Foundation (YLKI) in 2015. The most common banking-related complaints were account breaches, interest rates, credit card penalties, and transaction system failures.

Of the 1,030 complaints received by YLKI, the highest number of reports occurred in October, while the lowest was in December 2015. These complaints were spread across 28 commodities, with banking occupying the top spot at 17.09 percent. This ranking remained unchanged from the previous year. Housing complaints ranked second with 15.53 percent.

The number of complaints received by YLKI has increased annually. In 2013, YLKI received 934 cases, increasing to 1,192 reports in 2014. Complaints were submitted via mail, in person, and by telephone/fax. Complaints received via email, social media (Facebook, Twitter), or the YLKI website were not included in these figures.
