Indonesia's Active Covid-19 Cases Drop to 19th in Asia

Indonesia's active Covid-19 cases have reached 22,541, a 2,444-case increase from the previous day. Despite this increase, Indonesia's ranking of active cases dropped from 18th on Monday, October 11, 2021, to 19th in Asia on Tuesday, October 12, 2021.

Meanwhile, Turkey still holds the highest number of active Covid-19 cases, recording 481,410. This is followed by Iran with 359,516 cases and India with 221,037 cases.

The decrease in Indonesia's active case ranking aligns with the Covid-19 recovery index released by Nikkei. Indonesia was ranked 92nd in the July 2021 report. Its position then surged to 54th out of 121 Asian countries in September 2021. Furthermore, Indonesia's Covid-19 recovery index is the highest in Southeast Asia.

Despite showing signs of recovery, Indonesia must not become complacent in suppressing the spread of the virus. The government still needs to intensify the 3T strategy: testing, tracing, and treatment.

Meanwhile, the public is urged to continue adhering to health protocols, especially as Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM Darurat) are gradually eased. These health protocols include wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining physical distance.
