The Charta Politika survey institute compiled the reasons respondents chose three prospective presidential candidates (bacapres) for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres 2024): Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, and Prabowo Subianto.
Anies Baswedan, with a base of 582 voters, was chosen because he was considered intelligent by 32% of his voters.
The other main reason was that he was considered to have performed well or achieved success, according to 26% of respondents. The former Governor of DKI Jakarta was also considered to be on the side of the common people by 21% of respondents.
For Ganjar Pranowo, the most common reason for choosing him was that he was considered to be on the side of the common people, by 48% of voters from his base of 886 voters.
Other main reasons for choosing the former Governor of Central Java were that he was considered to have performed well (24%) and to be intelligent (10%).
Unlike the other two bacapres, Prabowo Subianto was most often chosen because of his firmness, by 44% of his 847 voters.
Other main reasons for choosing the Minister of Defense were that he was considered to have achieved success (22%) and to be on the side of the common people (17%).
However, some voters did not state their reasons, answering "don't know/didn't answer" (TT/TJ) as shown in the graph.
In the same survey, the electability of the prospective presidential and vice-presidential candidate pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD was closely competing with the pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Ganjar-Mahfud's electability was recorded at 36.8%, while Prabowo-Gibran's was 34.7%.
Meanwhile, the electability of the pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, alias Cak Imin, was the lowest, at 24.3%. The remaining 4.3% of respondents did not know or did not answer the survey question.
"In pairs, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD is the top choice, followed by Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar," said the Charta Politika team in its press release on Monday (6/11/2023).
This survey was conducted on 2,400 respondents representing all provinces in Indonesia. All respondents were 17 years of age or older, meeting the voter requirements, and the sample was taken using a multistage random sampling method.
Data collection for the survey was conducted from October 26-31, 2023, using face-to-face interviews. The margin of error is 2% with a 95% confidence level.
