Based on national Covid-19 data, 147 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Saturday, January 14, 2023, shows a national average of 0.41 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of tests per 1000 people per week, are Balikpapan City (4.3 people), South Jakarta City (4.19 people), Central Jakarta City (4.11 people), East Jakarta City (2.93 people), and West Jakarta City (2.81 people).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 649,420, the number of people tested is 4.3 per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.47 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week.
Next is South Jakarta City. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested was 4.19 per 1000 people per week. The positive rate in this region is 2.04 percent, down from the previous week.
Then, Central Jakarta City recorded 4.11 tests per 1000 people per week, East Jakarta City recorded 2.93 tests per 1000 people per week, and West Jakarta City recorded 2.81 tests per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 149 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 154 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan City, Badung, and Mimika, with 4.3, 2.56, and 2.48 tests per 1000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
