Anticipating the impact of the continuously rising Omicron variant, 166 regencies/cities aggressively conducted testing, exceeding the national average. Data as of Monday, May 9, 2022, shows a national average of 186.34 specimens tested per week.
The top five, starting with the highest, are Blora, Majalengka, Tulungagung, Nganjuk, and Batang, with 981, 975, 968, 965, and 954 specimens tested per week, respectively.
Blora ranks first. With a population of 866,140, it recorded 981 specimens tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.11 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Majalengka. In an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, 975 specimens were tested per week. The positive rate in this region is 0.17 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Following this, Tulungagung tested 968 specimens per week, Nganjuk 965 specimens per week, and Batang 954 specimens per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on national COVID-19 data, 307 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily specimens tested than before. Meanwhile, 45 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens tested compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, some regions with the highest number of specimens tested include Pematangsiantar, Biak Numfor, and Banjar, with 946, 912, and 884 specimens tested, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
