Based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Friday, January 20, 2023, shows a national average of 0.39 tests per 1,000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of tests per 1,000 people per week, are Balikpapan City (3.97 people), Central Jakarta City (3.8 people), South Jakarta City (3.61 people), East Jakarta City (2.69 people), and Sikka Regency (2.56 people).
Balikpapan City ranks first. With a population of 649,420, the number of people tested is 3.97 per 1,000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0.19 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Central Jakarta City. With a population of 914,530, the number of people tested is 3.8 per 1,000 people per week. The positive rate is 1.58 percent, also lower than the previous week.
South Jakarta City recorded 3.61 tests per 1,000 people per week, East Jakarta City 2.69 tests per 1,000 people per week, and Sikka Regency, with a population of 325,260, recorded 2.56 tests per 1,000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 128 regencies/cities actively reporting a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 160 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan City (3.97 people), Sikka Regency (2.56 people), and Mimika Regency (2.48 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
