Active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia have been steadily increasing over the past month.
According to reports from the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, the number of active cases reached 24,490 as of July 14, 2022, an increase of 703 cases from the previous day.
Compared to a month ago, the number of active Covid-19 cases has increased approximately 4.6 times.
As of July 14, 2022, DKI Jakarta had the highest number of active cases, with 12,546 cases. This is equivalent to 51.22% of the total national active Covid-19 cases.
West Java was second with 5,789 active cases, followed by Banten with 2,443 cases, and Bali with 925 cases.
Next are Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan, with the number of active cases as shown in the graph.
Overall, as of July 14, 2022, approximately 6.12 million people in Indonesia have been infected with Covid-19. 2.56% of them died, and 97.03% have recovered.
The government urges the public to increase preparedness amid the rising number of Covid-19 cases, especially with the emergence of the Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 in recent times.
Government Spokesperson for Covid-19 Handling, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, also reminded the public of the need to diligently follow health protocols.
"Even those who have received complete vaccination, including boosters, are not 100% immune to Covid-19," said Wiku in his press statement on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
