The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 56 regencies/cities with a number of deaths due to Covid-19 above the national average, currently recorded at 0.03 per 100,000 population per week, data as of Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
The five regencies/cities with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths, exceeding 0.59 per 100,000 population per week, are Teluk Bintuni (1.42 per 100,000 population per week), Buton Tengah (1.07 per 100,000 population per week), Gayo Lues (1.03 per 100,000 population per week), Aceh Singkil (0.78 per 100,000 population per week), and Sumbawa Barat (0.59 per 100,000 population per week).
The national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows an increase in Covid-19 deaths in most regencies/cities outside Java. Seven regencies/cities recorded a higher daily number of Covid-19 deaths than before, while two regencies/cities recorded a lower number.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of Covid-19 deaths include Teluk Bintuni (1.42 per 100,000 population per week), Buton Tengah (1.07 per 100,000 population per week), and Gayo Lues (1.03 per 100,000 population per week).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
