Data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows a decline in the reproductive health score for Indonesian women in 2023.
The details are as follows: For women aged 15-49 years, the score for live births not occurring in a health facility (MTF) was 0.258 points in 2023, down from 0.265 points in 2022.
Meanwhile, for women aged 15-49 years, the score for first live births occurring before the age of 20 (MHPK20) was 0.126 points in 2023, down from 0.140 points in 2022.
In previous years, these two dimensions also showed a downward trend, as seen in the graph. However, MTF saw a slight increase from 2021 to 2022, rising from 0.262 points to 0.265 points.
"Improvements in the reproductive health dimension indicate that the potential risks to women's reproductive health in Indonesia have been successfully minimized," wrote the BPS in its official statistical news release published on Monday (May 6, 2024).
The health dimension is included in the indicators that make up the Gender Inequality Index (IKG), along with empowerment and the labor market.
The BPS also reported that Indonesia's IKG score reached 0.447 points in 2023.
This figure is down 0.012 points from 0.459 points in 2022. A lower score indicates a reduction in gender inequality.
