Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Indonesia received 1.06 million foreign tourist visits in June 2023, a 119.64% increase compared to June of the previous year.

"This shows that the revival of the tourism sector in Indonesia continues," wrote BPS in its report.

By nationality, the majority of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia were from Singapore.

Singapore contributed 174,440 visits, equivalent to 16.41% of the total foreign tourist visits in June 2023.

Malaysia ranked second, contributing 168,760 foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, followed by Australia with 132,400 visits, India with 68,800 visits, and China with 62,500 visits.

Based on mode of transportation, the majority of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in June 2023 utilized air transport, contributing 77.89%.

Meanwhile, foreign tourists visiting Indonesia using sea and land transport contributed 19.37% and 2.73%, respectively.
