The highest increase in confirmed positive COVID-19 cases in West Sumatra currently occurred in the Mentawai Islands, with two cases per 100,000 population per week as of Saturday, June 4, 2022. This figure is more than double the number of cases in the second-highest region.
The COVID-19 transmission situation in the Mentawai Islands appears to be unimproved. The Ministry of Health recorded no weekly cases per 100,000 population in the region the previous week.
Next, in second place is Payakumbuh City, recording 0.7 weekly confirmed cases per 100,000 population. Compared to the previous week, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases this week is still higher, meaning no improvement is evident.
Rounding out the top five, besides the two regions above, are Dharmasraya, Padang City, and Tanah Datar, recording 0.37, 0.3, and 0.29 weekly confirmed cases respectively.
According to the Ministry of Health's list, the next five districts/cities in the top 10 are Agam, Solok City, West Pasaman, and Padang Panjang City. These areas recorded an average increase of over 0.2 cases per 100,000 population.
The good news from this province is that 12 districts/cities recorded no increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
Other information from today's daily COVID-19 data statistics shows that 132 districts/cities in Indonesia recorded a higher increase compared to the previous week, and 140 other districts/cities recorded lower weekly confirmations than the previous week.
Furthermore, 318 districts/cities in Indonesia currently report no confirmed COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population per week.
