There are 269 cases of acute kidney injury in 27 provinces; here's the distribution.

The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 269 cases of atypical progressive acute kidney injury (AKI) as of October 26, 2022. These hundreds of cases are spread across 27 provinces in Indonesia.

"Jakarta has the highest number of cases with 57, followed by West Java with 38 cases, Aceh (30 cases), East Java (25 cases), West Sumatra (19 cases), and Bali (15 cases)," said Kemenkes spokesperson Mohammad Syahril in a press conference on Thursday (27/10).

The details show that 157 cases resulted in death, accounting for 58% of the total cases. This is followed by 73 cases currently hospitalized and 39 cases that have recovered.

The following is the distribution of acute kidney injury cases in Indonesia as of October 26, 2022:

25. Papua: 1 case

27. East Kalimantan: 1 case

The majority of these cases experienced anuria, or complete absence of urine output, totaling 143 cases (53% of the total cases). This is followed by oliguria, or reduced urine output, with 58 cases (22%), and cases without anuria or oliguria numbering 68 (25%).

"If anuria occurs, or the inability to urinate, then it has entered the third stage, a severe stage," said Syahril.

Furthermore, according to Syahril, prodromal symptoms, or symptoms accompanying decreased urine production, should also be considered. Common symptoms in these cases include fever, decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and respiratory problems.
