Many infants under five years old (toddlers) in DKI Jakarta still suffer from malnutrition. The Indonesian Nutritional Status Study (SSGI) reports that 20.4% of toddlers in North Jakarta experienced stunting in 2021.
This means that 1 in 5 toddlers in this region experienced stunting according to the 2021 SSGI results. The stunting rate for toddlers in North Jakarta is above the average stunting rate for DKI Jakarta Province, which is 16.8%. This figure is also the highest compared to the other five regions in the capital city.
The next highest region for toddler stunting is Central Jakarta, reaching 19.7%. This is followed by the Thousand Islands Regency at 19.3%, West Jakarta at 17.6%, and South Jakarta at 15.7%.
East Jakarta, on the other hand, is the region in the capital city with the lowest rate of toddler stunting, at 13.4%.
DKI Jakarta is one of the provinces with acute malnutrition problems, where stunted toddlers are <20% and wasted (thin) >= 5%. The other four provinces with acute malnutrition problems are Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau Islands, and Yogyakarta Special Region.
