According to the Ministry of Health's serosurvey results, 99.2% of the Indonesian population had developed immunity or antibodies against Covid-19 by March 2022.
This figure is an increase from the previous survey conducted in December 2021. At that time, only around 86.6% of the population reportedly had Covid-19 antibodies.
The Ministry of Health also noted that the antibody levels in December 2021 were only at 500-600. However, by March 2022, the levels had risen to the thousands, approximately 7,000-8,000.
"This means that 99.2 percent of the Indonesian population has antibodies. This could be from vaccination or infection," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in a press statement on Monday (April 18).
"So, if the virus attacks later, the body's immune system can quickly respond, significantly reducing the risk of hospitalization and even death," he continued.
Nevertheless, the government urges the public to continue practicing health protocols.
"Regarding activities in entertainment venues or crowded places, these are carried out with health protocols and in accordance with capacity. These activities will be detailed in the upcoming Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in a press statement on Monday (April 18).
