Based on national Covid-19 data, 151 regencies/cities aggressively conducted suspect testing, exceeding the national average weekly percentage. As of Wednesday, April 20, 2022, the national average was 5.23 percent. This suspect testing data is calculated based on the number of suspected individuals and close contacts compared to the total number of people tested in each region, subsequently reported to the Ministry of Health.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Pangandaran, Padang Lawas Utara, Simalungun, Padang Lawas, and Barito Timur, with percentages of 72.89 percent, 69.43 percent, 52.91 percent, 52.54 percent, and 42.22 percent respectively.
Pangandaran ranks first. With a population of 407,350, its weekly suspect testing percentage is 72.89 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.18 percent, lower than the previous week.
Next is Padang Lawas Utara. With a population of 293,240, its weekly suspect testing percentage in efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic is 69.43 percent. The positive rate is 0 percent, also lower than the previous week.
Following this, Simalungun recorded 52.91 percent, Padang Lawas 52.54 percent, and Barito Timur, with a population of 128,130, recorded 42.22 percent for weekly suspect testing.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact across various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 179 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported higher weekly suspect testing percentages than the previous week. Meanwhile, 194 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly suspect testing percentages compared to the previous week.
Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly suspect testing percentages include Padang Lawas Utara, Simalungun, and Padang Lawas, with percentages of 69.43 percent, 52.91 percent, and 52.54 percent respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
