Indonesia's Covid-19 Cases Reach 4.17 Million, Fourth Highest in Asia

The number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reached 4,174,216 as of Wednesday, September 15, 2021. According to Worldometer data, this makes Indonesia the fourth highest in Asia.

India still holds the first position with 33,315,512 Covid-19 cases. The high number of cases in India has occurred since the emergence of the Delta variant (B.1.617.2).

Turkey follows in second place with 6,710,666 Covid-19 cases. The large number of cases in Turkey is in line with the third wave since the end of July 2021.

Meanwhile, Iran is in third place with 5,340,656 cases. Like Turkey, Iran is also facing a third wave that began at the end of June 2021. In fact, daily additions of Covid-19 cases in Iran reached a record high of 50,228 on August 17, 2021.

Although in fourth place, Covid-19 cases in Indonesia have subsided since peaking in mid-July 2021. However, the public still needs to be aware of the transmission of Covid-19 within the country.

One step to prevent the spread of Covid-19 is to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing a mask, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
