Aceh's Population Morbidity Rate Decreased in 2020

Data from the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that Aceh's morbidity rate was 14.04% in 2020. This figure is down 2.64 percentage points from the previous year's 16.68%.

Throughout 2016-2020, the morbidity rate in rural areas was consistently higher than in urban areas. In 2020, the morbidity rate in rural areas reached 14.65%, while in urban areas it was 12.77%.

The high morbidity rate in rural Aceh is due to the uneven distribution of health facilities. Furthermore, health awareness among rural residents in Aceh remains low.

Morbidity refers to any impairment of physical or mental condition, including that caused by accidents or other factors that disrupt daily activities. Common health complaints include fever, headache, cold, diarrhea, asthma, and toothache.

A higher morbidity percentage indicates a poorer level of public health. High morbidity rates also signify a large number of health complaints experienced by the population in a given area.
