Top 10 Regencies/Cities with the Highest Percentage of Weekly People Checked (Saturday, February 19, 2022)

To prevent being caught off guard and to continue suppressing the spread of Covid-19, 211 regencies/cities are aggressively conducting weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data as of Saturday, February 19, 2022, shows the national average testing rate at 261.05 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.

The top five, starting from the highest percentage of people tested per week, are Manokwari Selatan (992.86%), Kutai Barat (974.68%), Gorontalo City (968.75%), Mahakam Ulu (967.86%), and Buru (959.18%).

Manokwari Selatan ranks first. With a population of 27,081, the weekly percentage of people tested is 992.86 percent. The latest positive rate is 6.12 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.

Next is Kutai Barat. This region has a population of 150,820. In an effort to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly percentage of people tested is 974.68 percent. The positive rate in this region is 17.92 percent, an increase compared to the previous week's percentage.

Then, Gorontalo City, with a population of 221,550, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 968.75 percent; Mahakam Ulu, with a population of 26,825, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 967.86 percent; and Buru recorded a testing percentage of 959.18 percent.

Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid data recapitulation, there are 208 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reporting higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 168 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.

Regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Manokwari Selatan, Kutai Barat, and Gorontalo City, with weekly testing percentages of 992.86 percent, 974.68 percent, and 968.75 percent, respectively.

The government urges everyone to participate in reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
