Today's COVID-19 Provincial Data Update: Jakarta Records Highest Increase (Sunday, May 7, 2023)

Indonesia today recorded an additional 1,295 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6.79 million as of Sunday, May 7, 2023. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Central Java, and Banten.

The following is a breakdown of the highest number of new Covid-19 cases by province today

1. DKI Jakarta recorded an additional 468 cases

DKI Jakarta ranks first. The increase in cases here was 468, a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.56 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in DKI Jakarta is now 1.56 million.

In addition to recording the highest number of new cases, DKI Jakarta also recorded three deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths in DKI Jakarta during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 16,040.

The trend of case development in this region over the past week has increased. This can be seen from the higher confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week.

Conversely, the positive rate in this region is lower than before. According to the Ministry of Health, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 17.21 percent.

2. West Java recorded an additional 226 cases

Next is West Java. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 226. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 9.44 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 28.55 per week.
3. East Java recorded an additional 187 cases

Third is East Java. In this province, the increase in cases today was 187, a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 644,610.

In addition to being among the provinces with the highest number of new cases, East Java also recorded six deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths in East Java during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 32,442.

The trend of case development in this region over the past week has increased. This can be seen from the higher confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week.

Conversely, the positive rate in this region is lower than before. According to the Ministry of Health, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 13.41 percent.

4. Central Java recorded an additional 132 cases

Central Java is in fourth place. The increase in cases here was 132, a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 659,900. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 660,040.

In addition to recording a significant number of new cases, Central Java also recorded four deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths in Central Java during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 34,178.

Fifth is Banten. In this province, the increase in cases today was 81, a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 370,540. The seven-day positive rate is 9.34 percent, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 8.82 percent.
6. South Sumatra recorded an additional 26 cases

Sixth is South Sumatra. In this province, the increase in cases today was 26, a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 85,505. The seven-day positive rate in South Sumatra is 6.1 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 11.99 percent.
7. East Kalimantan recorded an additional 23 cases

Next is East Kalimantan. The increase in cases here was 23, a 0.01 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 215,000. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 215,020.

East Kalimantan also reported three deaths today. Thus, the total number of deaths in East Kalimantan during the Covid-19 pandemic has reached 5,806. The seven-day positive rate is 4.52 percent, and the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 3.9 percent.

8. Lampung recorded an additional 23 cases

Eighth is Lampung. In this province, the increase in cases today was 23, a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total of 78,614. 9. Yogyakarta recorded an additional 20 cases

Next is Yogyakarta. The increase in cases here was 20, a 0.01 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 231,890. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 231,910. The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region is lower than before. 10. East Nusa Tenggara recorded an additional 17 cases

Next is East Nusa Tenggara. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 17. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 2.85 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 2.03 per week.
