Indonesia today recorded an additional 2,067 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6.77 million as of Friday, April 28, 2023. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Central Java, and Banten.
The following are the provinces with the highest number of new Covid-19 cases today
- DKI Jakarta recorded an additional 656 cases
DKI Jakarta ranks first. The increase in cases here was 656, or a 0.04 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.56 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in DKI Jakarta is now 1.56 million.
Unfortunately, in addition to recording a high number of new cases, DKI Jakarta also recorded six deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in DKI Jakarta has reached 16,020. The seven-day positive rate in DKI Jakarta is 17.83 percent, while the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 12.29 percent.
- West Java recorded an additional 405 cases
Next is West Java. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 405. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 9.81 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 13.12 per week.
- East Java recorded an additional 349 cases
East Java is in third place. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 349. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 12.2 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 8.06 per week.
- Central Java recorded an additional 235 cases
Next is Central Java. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 235. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 19.99 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 2.68 per week.
- Banten recorded an additional 139 cases
Next is Banten. The increase in cases here was 139, or a 0.04 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 369,380. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 369,520. The trend of cases in this region has decreased over the past week. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Conversely, the positive rate in this region has increased over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 6.7 percent.
- DI Yogyakarta recorded an additional 71 cases
The sixth highest increase in cases was in DI Yogyakarta. In this province, the increase in cases today was 71, or a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 231,440.
Three deaths were also reported in DI Yogyakarta today. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in DI Yogyakarta has reached 6,103.
The trend of cases in this region has increased over the past week. This can be seen from the higher confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region has increased over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 12.41 percent.
- South Sulawesi recorded an additional 24 cases
The seventh highest increase in cases was in South Sulawesi. In this province, the increase in cases today was 24, or a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 148,970. The trend of cases in this region has decreased over the past week. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region has decreased. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 1.33 percent.
- East Kalimantan recorded an additional 23 cases
East Kalimantan is in eighth place. The increase in cases here was 23, or a 0.01 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 214,740. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 214,770.
East Kalimantan also reported one death today. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Kalimantan has reached 5,801. The seven-day positive rate in East Kalimantan is 2.7 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 1.28 percent.
- Bali recorded an additional 22 cases
The ninth highest increase in cases was in Bali. In this province, the increase in cases today was 22, or a 0.01 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 173,100. The seven-day positive rate in Bali is 2.66 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at 2.55 percent.
- Lampung recorded an additional 20 cases
The tenth highest increase in cases was in Lampung. In this province, the increase in cases today was 20, or a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 78,376. The trend of cases in this region has increased over the past week. This can be seen from the higher confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week. Similarly, the positive rate in this region has increased over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is 0.97 percent.
