The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus continues to spread globally, reaching 4.28 million cases by Monday, November 28, 2022. According to GISAID data, Qatar recorded the highest increase in Omicron cases, with 909 new cases. The total number of Omicron cases in Qatar currently represents 0.02 percent of the global total.
Next is Russia, which recorded a 55.73 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous week. Daily data shows a 3.55 percent increase in Omicron cases compared to the previous day.
Following this are Guatemala with 1,469 additional Omicron cases (a 19.24% increase), Algeria with 324 additional Omicron cases (a 7.28% increase), and Australia with 115,500 additional Omicron cases (a 3.22% increase).
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, the number of Omicron cases has reached 28,313, a 0.08 percent increase compared to the previous day. Since it was first monitored, Omicron cases in Indonesia have continued to rise.
The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) urges everyone to remain vigilant in the face of the global surge in Omicron cases. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
