The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 145 districts/cities with a weekly confirmed positive Covid-19 case count above the national average, currently recorded at 0.55 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Thursday, January 12, 2023).
The top five districts/cities with the highest confirmed positive cases, exceeding 6.54 per 100,000 population/week, are Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, South Tangerang, Morowali, and Central Sumba, with respective values of 9.51, 9.17, 7.52, 7.01, and 6.54 per 100,000 population/week.
A national Covid-19 data recapitulation from the Ministry of Health shows that most districts/cities outside Java Island experienced a decrease in confirmed positive cases. Thirty-one districts/cities recorded higher daily confirmed positive cases than before, while 41 districts/cities recorded lower confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive case rates include Morowali, Central Sumba, and Mimika, with respective confirmed positive case rates of 7.01, 6.54, and 4.46 per 100,000 population/week.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
