As of Monday, August 9th, the latest data update shows that in Southeast Sulawesi province, the age group with the highest percentage of confirmed COVID-19 cases is 31-45 years old at 33.2 percent. This is followed by 31 percent in the 19-30 age group, 18.3 percent in the 46-59 age group, 8.6 percent in the over-60 age group, 7.1 percent in the 6-18 age group, and approximately 1.9 percent in the 0-5 age group.
The daily increase in confirmed COVID-19 cases in Southeast Sulawesi has begun to decline over the past week. Compared to other provinces, Southeast Sulawesi ranks 30th in terms of the highest number of cases. Yesterday, the province recorded a decrease of 13 confirmed cases compared to the previous day.
Good news from Southeast Sulawesi is the high recovery rate, reaching 79.45 percent (14,000 individuals have recovered). The death toll stands at 410 (two percent). Those who recovered included individuals with pre-existing conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, immune disorders, and kidney disease.
According to diagnostic results, the main symptoms of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Southeast Sulawesi are cough, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath, and runny nose. Clinically, the most common comorbidities observed were hypertension (34.9 percent), diabetes mellitus (23.3 percent), kidney disease (16.3 percent), and immune disorders (9.3 percent). Pregnancy was also recorded as a comorbidity in 14 percent of cases.
