The top five, starting from the highest number of specimens examined per week, are Palangkaraya City (983 specimens), Sikka (947 specimens), Batam City (909 specimens), Pasuruan (862 specimens), and Sukabumi (801 specimens).
Palangkaraya City ranks first. With a population of 295,790, the number of specimens examined is 983 per week. The latest positive rate is 6.64 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's ratio.
Next is Sikka. The population of this region is 324,280. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 947 specimens were examined per week. The positive rate in this region is 0.38 percent, a decrease compared to the previous week's ratio.
Furthermore, the number of specimens examined in Batam City was 909 per week, Pasuruan recorded 862 specimens per week, and Sukabumi recorded 801 specimens per week.
To anticipate the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 128 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 164 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Regions outside Java with the highest number of specimens examined include Palangkaraya City, Sikka, and Batam City, with 983, 947, and 909 specimens examined, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
