The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded 138 districts/cities with a weekly number of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases above the national average, currently recorded at 0.43 per 100,000 population/week (data as of Tuesday, May 17, 2022).
The top five districts/cities with confirmed positive cases exceeding 5.29 per 100,000 population/week are Teluk Bintuni, South Jakarta, Kutai Barat, Badung, and South Tangerang, with values of 14.46, 6.41, 5.97, 5.77, and 5.29 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
A recapitulation of national COVID-19 data from the Ministry of Health shows a decrease in confirmed positive cases in most districts/cities outside Java. Twenty-one districts/cities recorded higher daily confirmed positive cases than before, while 46 districts/cities recorded lower confirmed positive cases.
Areas outside Java with the highest confirmed positive case rates include Teluk Bintuni, Kutai Barat, and Badung, with confirmed positive cases of 14.46, 5.97, and 5.77 per 100,000 population/week, respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
