Based on national Covid-19 data, 153 regencies/cities aggressively conducted Covid-19 testing above the national average. Data as of Thursday, December 22, 2022, shows a national average of 0.51 tests per 1000 people per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per 1000 people per week, are: South Jakarta (5.05 people), Balikpapan (4.96 people), Central Jakarta (4.89 people), East Jakarta (3.65 people), and Gunungsitoli (3.35 people).
South Jakarta ranks first, with 5.05 people tested per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 4.07 percent, down from the previous week.
Balikpapan is next. With a population of 646,020, 4.96 people per 1000 were tested per week. The positive rate is 0.41 percent, up from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Central Jakarta recorded 4.89 people per 1000 people per week; East Jakarta, 3.65 people per 1000; and Gunungsitoli, 3.35 people per 1000.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 127 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily testing numbers than before. Conversely, 179 regencies/cities recorded lower testing numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside of Java, areas with the highest number of tests include Balikpapan (4.96 people), Gunungsitoli (3.35 people), and Badung (2.78 people).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
