The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the hotel room occupancy rate (TPK) for star-rated hotels in Indonesia reached 53.03% in May 2024.
This figure increased by 6.89% month-to-month (mtm) and by 5.01% year-on-year (yoy) compared to May 2023.
In May 2024, East Kalimantan had the highest national TPK for star-rated hotels at 69.6%.
Acting Head of the BPS Secretariat, Imam Machdi, stated that this achievement was influenced by the preparations for several national events. "This was driven, among other things, by the implementation of national-scale events, namely the preparations for the 17th Apeksi National Working Meeting 2024 and also the Balikpapan Health Conference and Expo 2024," said Imam in a virtual press conference on Monday (1/7/2024).
Following East Kalimantan, Bali and Yogyakarta Special Region achieved star-rated hotel TPKs of 66.10% and 61.89%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the lowest TPK for star-rated hotels was in West Papua at only 27.84%, followed by Highland Papua at 28.02% and West Sulawesi at 28.51%.
In line with star-rated hotels, the TPK for non-star-rated hotels also increased by 0.90% (mtm) to 27.11% in May 2024. Annually, the figure grew by 2.87% (yoy).
The non-star-rated hotels with the highest TPK in May 2024 were Bali, at 47.02%, followed by Jakarta at 47.02% and Central Papua at 39.22%.
The lowest TPK for non-star-rated hotels was in West Papua at 13.91%, followed by Bangka Belitung Islands at 14.02% and Southwest Papua at 16.80%.
