A report by *Our World In Data* shows that Indonesia's COVID-19 positivity rate reached 1.8% as of September 22, 2021. This achievement places Indonesia's COVID-19 positivity rate second lowest in Southeast Asia.
This occurred alongside a decrease in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia. Daily positive COVID-19 cases in Indonesia have now reached an average of 2,892 cases in the last week. Meanwhile, the average number of daily tests reached 258,934 in the last week.
Singapore ranked first with a positivity rate of 1.2%. Cambodia ranked below Indonesia with a positivity rate of 3.5%. Laos recorded a positivity rate of 5.9%. Myanmar and Malaysia each had positivity rates of 9.4% and 13.7%, respectively. Next, Timor Leste had a positivity rate of 16.4%. The Philippines and Thailand followed with positivity rates of 28% and 29.3%, respectively.
Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, stated that, along with the decrease in COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, the government will continue to increase the number of tests in Indonesia so that more cases are detected. In addition, the public also needs to continue to participate in suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
One step to suppress the spread of the coronavirus is to diligently implement the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, the public is urged to avoid crowds and reduce mobility.
