Today's COVID-19 Provincial Data Update: Highest Increase in Jakarta (Thursday, April 7, 2022)

Indonesia today recorded an additional 2,089 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 6.03 million as of Thursday, April 7, 2022. The five provinces with the highest number of new cases today are DKI Jakarta, West Java, Banten, Central Java, and East Java.

The following are the provinces with the highest increase in Covid-19 cases today

1. DKI Jakarta recorded an additional 674 cases

DKI Jakarta is ranked first. The increase in cases here was 674, or a 0.05 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 1.24 million. With this addition, the total number of cases in DKI Jakarta is now 1.24 million.

In addition to recording the highest number of new cases, DKI Jakarta also recorded five deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in DKI Jakarta has reached 15,201.

The trend of case development in this region over the past week has decreased. This can be seen from the lower confirmation rate per 100,000 population compared to the previous week.

Conversely, the positive rate in this region has increased over the past week. According to the Ministry of Health, the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for Covid-19 hospitals in this province is recorded at six percent.

2. West Java recorded an additional 366 cases

West Java is ranked second. The increase in Covid-19 cases here was 366. The seven-day positive rate in this region is 3.46 percent. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people tested for Covid-19 in this province is recorded at 93.56 per week.
3. Banten recorded an additional 204 cases

The third highest increase in cases is in Banten. In this province, the increase in cases today was 204, or a 0.07 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 290,500.

In addition to having one of the highest increases in cases, Banten also recorded one death. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Banten has reached 2,925.

4. Central Java recorded an additional 183 cases

The fourth highest increase in cases is in Central Java. In this province, the increase in cases today was 183, or a 0.03 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which was recorded at 625,200.

In addition to having one of the highest increases in cases, Central Java also recorded seven deaths. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in Central Java has reached 32,874. The seven-day positive rate in Central Java is 4.38 percent, while the BOR for Covid-19 hospitals is reported at five percent.

5. East Java recorded an additional 143 cases

Next is East Java. The increase in cases here was 143, or a 0.02 percent increase compared to the previous day's cumulative total, which had reached 574,140. With this addition, the total number of cases in this province is now 574,290.

The number of deaths in East Java today is also reported as 11. Thus, the total number of deaths during the Covid-19 pandemic in East Java has reached 31,481.

8. Bali recorded an additional 37 cases

The eighth highest increase in cases is in Bali.
