Top 10 Regencies/Cities with the Highest Percentage of People Tested per Week (Week of February 20, 2022)

Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 154 regencies/cities aggressively conducted weekly testing exceeding the national average. Data from the week of February 20, 2022, shows a national average testing rate of 151.64 percent. This testing achievement data is calculated based on the number of people tested compared to each region's weekly target, which is then reported to the Ministry of Health.

The top five, starting from the highest, are Buru, South Buru, Central Buton, Tual City, and West Kotawaringin, with percentages of 963.95 percent, 895.24 percent, 879.12 percent, 868.83 percent, and 821.9 percent, respectively.

Buru ranks first. With a population of 149,970, its weekly testing percentage is recorded at 963.95 percent. The latest positive rate is 0.64 percent. The positive rate in this region increased compared to the previous week's percentage.

Next is South Buru. This region has a population of 63,531. In an effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the weekly testing percentage reached 895.24 percent. The positive rate in this region is recorded at 2.13 percent, which has decreased compared to the previous week's ratio.

Furthermore, Central Buton recorded a testing percentage of 879.12 percent, Tual City recorded 868.83 percent, and West Kotawaringin, with a population of 317,880, recorded a weekly testing percentage of 821.9 percent.

In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 94 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported higher weekly testing percentages than before. Meanwhile, 289 other regencies/cities recorded lower weekly testing percentages compared to the previous week.

Some of the regions outside Java with the highest weekly testing percentages include Buru, South Buru, and Central Buton, with weekly testing percentages of 963.95 percent, 895.24 percent, and 879.12 percent, respectively.

The government urges everyone to participate in reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
