An Indonesian Political Indicator survey shows that most Indonesians were satisfied with the 2023 Idul Fitri homecoming (mudik) arrangements.
78% expressed satisfaction, with 62.8% stating they were fairly satisfied and 15.2% very satisfied.
Among those who participated in the mudik, 89.5% reported satisfaction, with 66.5% stating they were fairly satisfied and 23% very satisfied.
This year's satisfaction rate is higher than last year's.
Burhanuddin Muhtadi, Executive Director of Indikator Politik Indonesia, stated that the overall satisfaction rate for this year's mudik reached 78%, compared to 73% in 2022, representing a 5% increase.
"Among those who participated in the mudik, satisfaction was even higher at 89.5%. The vast majority of respondents also agreed that this year's homecoming traffic flow was smoother than last year's," said Burhanuddin in a virtual press conference on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Burhanuddin added that the evaluation of facilities and services during the mudik received high praise, particularly regarding traffic management.
“Citizens were most satisfied with traffic management (81.8%) during the 2023 Idul Fitri homecoming period, followed by public transportation (73.4%), fuel availability (71.8%), and lowest was road conditions (64.3%),” said Burhanuddin.
This survey was conducted via telephone interviews with 1,218 respondents in Indonesia aged 17 or older, or married, between April 30 and May 6, 2023. Sample selection was done using random digit dialing (RDD). RDD is a technique for selecting samples through the random generation of telephone numbers.
Using the RDD technique, respondent samples were selected through the random generation of telephone numbers, validation, and screening. The survey's margin of error is approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level, assuming simple random sampling.
