These contents were identified, verified, and validated by the AIS Team of the Directorate General of Informatics Applications. The team reported that health-related hoaxes were the most prevalent during this period, totaling 2,357 contents.

"Issues related to the spread of COVID-19 still dominated this category," wrote the AIS team in a Kemenkominfo statement on Tuesday (2/1/2024).

The AIS team also found a significant amount of misinformation related to medicines and health products.

The next most frequent hoax contents were related to scams and government matters, each with 2,210 contents.

Scam-related hoax content involved recruitment scams, phishing links, fake accounts and numbers, social assistance scams, and prize scams.

Meanwhile, government-related hoax content referred to fake accounts of central and regional government officials and institutions. It also included misleading information about government policies.

Next was the politics category, with 1,628 hoax contents found by the end of 2023. This category was dominated by information related to political parties, candidates, and the election process.

Kominfo took down access to these contents. "Access termination is intended to prevent the widespread dissemination of hoaxes and to protect the public," Kominfo wrote.
