The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) revealed that throughout 2021-2022, PeduliLindungi prevented 3,733,067 people with red status (incomplete vaccination) from entering public spaces.
The application also detected 538,659 people infected with Covid-19 (black status) while traveling domestically or accessing enclosed public spaces.
"Launched in March 2020, this application has been downloaded more than 90 million times and has helped prevent Covid-19 infected citizens from accessing public facilities and places," as quoted from the Kominfo Instagram account on Monday (25/4/2022).
Kominfo's Instagram post also quoted the statement of the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Siti Nadia Tarmizi. According to her, the application contributed to the low transmission rate of Covid-19 in Indonesia compared to neighboring countries, and even developed nations.
"This application played a significant role in suppressing the transmission rate during the Delta and Omicron waves," said Siti.
Kominfo urges the public to remain disciplined in following health protocols: wearing masks correctly, avoiding crowds, washing hands with soap, and completing Covid-19 vaccination before traveling home (mudik).
