The number of active Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is decreasing, as evidenced by the declining national trend of active Covid-19 cases.
According to the Covid-19 Task Force report, Indonesia had 16,208 active Covid-19 cases as of October 9, 2022.
This number is down by 281 cases compared to the previous day and has decreased by about half compared to a month ago, when the national number of active Covid-19 cases was 35,250.
Despite the downward trend, several provinces still have thousands of active Covid-19 cases.
As of October 9, 2022, West Java had the highest number of active Covid-19 cases, with 4,446 cases, or 27.43% of the national total.
Next is DKI Jakarta with 4,304 active Covid-19 cases, or 26.55% of the national total.
Following are Central Java and Banten with 1,470 and 1,198 active Covid-19 cases, respectively.
Then there are East Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, North Sulawesi, North Sumatra, Bali, and East Nusa Tenggara with 736, 588, 411, 301, 289, and 287 active Covid-19 cases, respectively.
Meanwhile, the lowest number of active Covid-19 cases nationally was in Bengkulu, with only 15 cases as of October 9, 2022.
To date, the total number of Covid-19 cases nationally has reached 6,444,948, with 97.29% recovered and 2.45% resulting in death.
Although the national trend of active Covid-19 cases is declining, the public is urged to remain vigilant by implementing health protocols, such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands. Booster vaccinations are also important to reduce the severity of infection and the risk of death from Covid-19.
