Based on the national Covid-19 data recapitulation, 108 regencies/cities aggressively conducted specimen examinations exceeding the national average. Data as of Monday, March 20, 2023, shows a national average of 91.58 specimens per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Sidoarjo, Garut, Kutai Kartanegara, Cirebon City, and Kupang City, with 994, 940, 878, 868, and 861 specimens per week, respectively.
Sidoarjo ranks first, with 994 specimens examined per week. The latest positive rate is 1.56 percent, an increase compared to the previous week.
Next is Garut, which examined 940 specimens per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 2.28 percent, also higher than the previous week.
Following are Kutai Kartanegara (population: 802,710), with 878 specimens examined per week; Cirebon City with 868 specimens; and Kupang City with 861 specimens.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, the national Covid-19 data recapitulation shows that 66 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher daily number of specimens examined than before. Meanwhile, 140 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of specimens examined compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, some regions with the highest number of specimens examined include Kutai Kartanegara (878 specimens), Kupang City (861 specimens), and Denpasar City (797 specimens).
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by consistently wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
