The top five, starting with the highest, are Palu City, Madiun, West Kotawaringin, Bontang City, and Wonosobo, with 987, 980, 957, 948, and 947 specimens per week, respectively.
Palu City ranks first. With a population of 405,070, it recorded 987 specimens per week. The latest positive rate is 2.19 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Next is Madiun. With a population of 686,520, it examined 980 specimens per week. The positive rate is 4.62 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
West Kotawaringin recorded 957 specimens per week, Bontang City 948, and Wonosobo 947.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact, national Covid-19 data shows 141 regencies/cities actively reporting higher daily specimen examination numbers than before. Meanwhile, 202 other regencies/cities recorded lower numbers compared to the previous week.
Outside Java, areas with the highest number of specimen examinations include Palu City, West Kotawaringin, and Bontang City, with 987, 957, and 948 specimens, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing transmission by wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
