Indonesia had the third-highest number of Omicron COVID-19 cases in ASEAN as of January 5, 2022.

The Omicron (B.1.1.529) variant of the Covid-19 virus is spreading in Indonesia. As of January 5, 2021, 254 Omicron cases had been detected domestically. According to *Newsnodes* data, this places Indonesia third highest in Southeast Asia.

Singapore has the highest number of Omicron cases in Southeast Asia, with 2,251 detected cases.

Thailand is second with 2,062 Omicron cases. Below Indonesia is Malaysia, with 122 detected Omicron cases.

Following this are Cambodia with 85 cases, Vietnam and the Philippines with 24 and 14 cases respectively. Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar recorded 9 and 4 cases respectively.

In total, 4,825 Omicron cases have been detected across nine Southeast Asian countries. Only Laos and Timor-Leste have not yet reported any Omicron cases.

The Omicron variant has been detected in 140 countries globally, with a total of 456,417 cases.

To anticipate the spread of this new Omicron variant, the government continues to urge the public to remain vigilant against the transmission of the coronavirus, including this new variant. The public is urged to consistently adhere to the 3M health protocols: wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.
